So, remember that thing where I’ve written an epic portal fantasy? The cover is finally here, with artwork from the amazing Julie Dillon! BEHOLD THE PRETTY:
Here’s what it’s all about:
When Saffron Coulter stumbles through a hole in reality, she finds herself trapped in Kena, a magical realm on the brink of civil war.
There, her fate becomes intertwined with that of three very different women: Zech, the fast-thinking acolyte of a cunning, powerful exile; Viya, the spoiled, runaway consort of the empire-building ruler, Vex Leoden; and Gwen, an Earth-born worldwalker whose greatest regret is putting Leoden on the throne. But Leoden has allies, too, chief among them the Vex’Mara Kadeja, a dangerous ex-priestess who shares his dreams of conquest.
Pursued by Leoden and aided by the Shavaktiin, a secretive order of storytellers and mystics, the rebels flee to Veksh, a neighboring matriarchy ruled by the fearsome Council of Queens. Saffron is out of her world and out of her depth, but the further she travels, the more she finds herself bound to her friends with ties of blood and magic.
Can one girl—an accidental worldwalker—really be the key to saving Kena? Or will she just die trying?
There’s an official release piece up at tor.com – go check it out!
This looks so amazing.
Love the cover. Would definitely pick it up if I saw it on a shelf. I’ll ask my library to buy it.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, please, want one!
Foz, is this story LGBT+ and, if so, would it fall in the f/f category?
The protagonist is a bisexual girl who gets involved with another girl in the course of adventuring and various other characters are queer, so yes 🙂
In that case, would you mind if I asked the website I review for if I could review your story when it comes out? I review for Gay Guy Reading And Friends, which used to only review m/m, but have recently added an f/f category.
Not at all! Would love to see you review it 🙂
Foz, where would I be able to obtain a copy? I saw the book isn’t due out until August, so if I could get my hands on one before then, I can make sure my review is up as soon as the book is available. You could even tie it in with a blog tour…
Once we start sending out ARCs, you should be able to get one from the publisher or a place like Netgalley; otherwise, I can ask them for one to be sent to you 🙂
That would be brilliant! I’ll eagerly await more news… *wears a circle in the carpet, pacing*
